tinue in force till the lust day of December, one thous-
and eight hundred and fifty-one.

An act to change the name of William McDevitt, to
that of William Wilkinson:

Name changed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of William McDevitt, be and is here-
by changed to William Wilkinson, and that the said
William Wilkinson shall have and enjoy the same rights
and privileges as if he had always borne the name of
William Wilkinson as aforesaid.

An act to Incorporate the Mount Vernon Company.

&c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That William Kennedy, Thomas Wil-
son, John B. Rowell, Joseph P. Grant, John Williams,
Thomas Whitridge, their associates and successors, be
and they are hereby made and constituted a body cor-
porate and politic, by the name of the Mount Vernon
Company, and as such shall have succession, and may
sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, in any
court of law or equity, and may have and use a com-
mon seal, and the same may change and alter at pleas-
ure, and shall have and exercise all the powers, rights
and privileges which are incident to a corporation, ex-
cept as restricted by this act, and which are necessary
and proper for manufacturing cotton and other articles,
and vending the same, and for the aforesaid purposes,
may purchase, lease, hold and use lands, not exceeding
five hundred acres in quantity, and erect thereon such
