CHAPTER 297.

CHAP. 297.

An act to authorise the sale and distribution of the pro-
perty, real and personal, of David Robinson, free
negro, deceased.

Passed Mar. 9,
1850.

WHEREAS, David Robinson, free negro, late of Ca-
roline county, deceased, hath died seized of certain
property; and whereas, he has left a widow and chil-
dren; and whereas, by the circumstances of his case,
under the laws of the State, his property must escheat
to the State, instead of going to his family — There-
fore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the administrator upon said de-
ceased's estate, appointed by the Orphans court of
Caroline county, be and he is hereby authorised and
directed to sell and dispose of, at public sale, the en-
tire properly, real and personal, of said deceased, at a
time to he designated and published, under sanction
of said Orphans court, and within twelve mouths from
the time of sale, distribute, under sanction and direc-
tion of said court, the proceeds of said sale, after de-
dueling the legal fees and commission, among the
children and widow of said deceased, in the following
manner: to the widow, Anna Robinson, the one-third
part of the said nett proceeds, and to each of his chil-
dren, Charles, John, Eliza, Charlotte, Sally, Margaret,
and Lydia, shave and share alike of the remaining
two-thirds of the nett proceeds.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the bond of the
administrator aforesaid be held responsible for the
faithful performance of the duties hereinbefore as-
signed him.

tained shall be construed so as to affect the rights or
privileges of any heir at law to said deceased.
