LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 46.

Harford county, by himself, or any person or persons
by him appointed for the purpose, be and he is hereby
authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day
of January, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, the sums
and balances due him as sheriff aforesaid, in the same
manner as he could have clone within the time limited
by law.

Make oath.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry
Richardson, before he proceeds, in virtue of this act, to
execute or distrain the property of any person or persons
for public dues or officers fees, to deliver to the person
or persons changeable therewith, at least thirty days
previous to the levying such execution or distress, an
account written in words, in full length, of the public
dues or officers fees so chargeable and demanded, with
an affidavit annexed thereto, that, he hath not received
any part thereof, or any security or satisfaction therefor,

more than credits given; and provided, that nothing in
this act shall affect the estate of a deceased person, ex-
cept to allow said Henry Richardson to collect any sums
due him as sheriff from any deceased person, in the
same manner as claims against deceased persons are
now recovered by law; and provided also, that this act
shall not extend to any person or persons, his, or her, or
their representatives, against whom such taxes or fees
may have been rendered, who shall make oath or affir-
mation before a justice of the peace, that the same have
been paid or satisfied.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall lake
effect from its passage.

An act supplementary to an act entitled, an act relating
to the Importation of Passengers.

Mayor to re-
quire bond.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall be the duty of the mayor
of the city of Baltimore, or other person discharging
the duties of his office, to require the owner or consignee
of every vessel arriving from a foreign country, or from
any other of the United States, which shall be entered
at the custom-house, in the city of Baltimore, upon
pain of forfeiture for every neglect or omission, to give
bond as hereinafter required, of the sum of twenty dol-
