1849.

time and place of such meeting shall be given to each
stockholder, personally or by advertisement to be inser-
ted in a newspaper published daily in the city of Balti-
more, and in any meeting of stockholders for the trans-
action of any business, the owners of the major part of
the capital stock, present in person or by proxy, shall
form a quorum, and every such meeting shall have full
power and authority to provide by ordaining bye-laws,
or by other vote, for transacting the business of the cor-
poration, which bye-laws or vote, whilst in force shall be
binding on the President and Directors.

CHAP. 46.

SEC 5. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
lained shall be construed to confer banking privileges on
the said corporation, or the power of issuing bank notes,
or notes in the nature of bank notes, or paper intended to
circulate as bank notes or currency.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the State hereby
reserves the right to tax the property of this corporation,
and to amend or repeal this charter at any time hereaf-
ter.

CHAPTER 44.

Right reserved.

An act entitled, an act requiring the Judges of Balti-
more County Court, when in session for County pur-
poses, to appoint Bailiffs to be selected from said
County.

Passed Jan 29,
1850.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That from and after the passage of this act, it shall
be required of the Judges of Baltimore county court,
when in session for county purposes, to appoint Bailiffs
to be selected from said county.

CHAPTER 45.

Bailiffs— how
appointed.

An act to allow Henry Richardson, late Sheriff of
Harford County, further time to complete his collec-
tions.
