of the capital stock of the said bank shall have been
taken and subscribed for, and the sum of twenty-five
thousand dollars, in gold and silver coin, actually
paid in, and the fact of such payment in such gold
and silver coin, shall have been certified to the trea-
surer of the State of Maryland, by such person or par-
sons as he shall appoint to ascertain and report said
fact, the said bank is hereby authorised to commence
operation; that as soon as the sum of twenty-five
thousand dollars shall have been actually paid in by
the stockholders to the said commissioners, or any five
or more of them, hereinbefore named, and certified as
hereinbefore provided, to the treasurer of Maryland,
it shall be the duty of the said commissioners, or any
five or more of them, to appoint a day and place for
the election of the directors, which day shall be with-
in thirty days thereafter, and notice thereof given at
least ten days before such election, and the directors
so chosen shall continue to act until the next annual
election.

CHAP. 247.

SEC. 30. And be it enacted, That this act shall
continue in force until the expiration of the year
eighteen hundred and seventy, and until the end of
the next session of the General Assembly thereafter.

SEC. 31. And be it enacted, That the said bank shall
be subject to all the restrictions, liabilities, and duties
enforced by the act entitled, an act to extend the
charter of the several banks therein mentioned, passed
the ninth day of March, eighteen hundred and forty-
three, chapter two hundred and fifty-one, and an act
entitled, a supplement to an act entitled, an act to
provide for specie payments by the banks, passed
seventeenth February, eighteen hundred and forty-
five.
