CHAPTER 41.

Passed Jan. 29,
1850.

An act supplementary to an act passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and thirty-three, chapter
one hundred and fifty, entitled, an act to extend the
powers of the Court of Chancery, and the County

Courts, as Courts of Equity.

Powers exten-
ded.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the powers conferred upon the
courts of chancery, and Baltimore county court, as a
court of equity, by the second section of the act to
which this act is a supplement, be and they are here-
by fully extended to and conferred upon the several
county courts of this State, as courts of equity, to be
exercised in the manner provided for in said second

section.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act be in force
and take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 42.

Passed Jan. 29,

1850.

An act entitled, an act for the benefit of tie members
and congregation of Bethseda Church, in Mont-
gomery county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, the members of the Presbyterian Church
and congregation of Bethseda Church, in Mont-
gomery, have represented to this Legislature, that they
have purchased a lot of ground containing thirty-one
acres, more or less, lying south of said church, and
adjoining thereto, and have erected a parsonage there-
on, for the support of their minister; and whereas,
they have further represented, that the purchase afore-
said was made without a knowledge that the laws of
this State do not permit any religious sect, order, or
denomination, to hold more than two acres of land
for the support, use, or benefit of any minister, with-
out the leave of the Legislature — Therefore,

Made valid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the purchase made by the mem-
bers of the Presbyterian Church, and congregation of
Bethseda Church, in Montgomery county, of a lot of
