raised from the taxes levied under the seventeenth,
eighteenth, and nineteenth sections of this act, and
the annual contribution from the State, and the amount
that may be necessary to pay to each school district in
said county, for the support of its school, the sum of
two hundred dollars, and the salary of the superin-
tendent, as herein provided for; and the collectors of
county taxes in said county are hereby required to
collect said tax, and pay over the same to the super-
intendent and treasurer, in four equal quarterly pay-
ments, on the first days of February, May, August,
and November, annually, and in case of failure on the
part of either of said collectors to make such quarter-
ly payments, the same proceedings shall be had against
said defaulting collector and his sureties, as are pre-
scribed in the twenty-fourth section of this act.

CHAP. 221.

SEC. 35. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of the said county may allow their clerk, and the col-
lectors of county and State taxes, such additional
compensation as may be proper in consideration of
the additional duties imposed upon them by this act,
and all expenses incurred or to be inclined under the
provisions of this act, shall be levied for and paid as
all other county charges, and for the purpose of pro-
viding a fund to meet the expense of laying off the
county into school districts, and the first assessment
of salaries and incomes as herein required, and the
examination and adjustment of the same, the commis-
sioners of the said county are hereby authorised, re-
quired and directed to levy upon the assessable pro-
perty of said county, the sum of three hundred
dollars, to be paid to the said county surveyor and his
deputies, and the members of the board of education,
according to such accounts as they may exhibit to the
commissioners, of the time they may have been re-
spectively engaged in the discharge of any duty im-
posed upon them by this act, the balance, if any,
which may be due to said surveyor or his deputies,
or the members of the board of education, to be pro-
vided for in the next annual levy.

Compensation
of clerk, etc

SEC. 36. And be it enacted, That on the second
Wednesday in May next, when the voters of the said

county shall assemble in their respective election dis-
tricts to .vote for or against the adoption of the act of
this General Assembly, calling a convention to reform
the constitution of this State, it shall be the duty of
the judges of said election, in each of the said elec-
tion districts, and they are hereby required, to inquire
