CHAP. 221.

of to be made by their clerk; provided, that where the
dwelling of any person stands within a district which
does not include me whole of the land attached to said
dwelling, the whole of the said land shall be assessed in
the district in which the dwelling stands, and upon the
said assessment, the said trustees shall levy such a rate
of tax as shall be necessary to raise the sum determined
upon, and the cost of collecting the same, and shall de-
liver, or cause to be delivered, to the collectors of the
said districts, duplicates of the said assessments with the
rate of tax specified thereon, within thirty days from
the clay of the said annual meeting, at which the said
sum to be raised shall be determined upon.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That every district tax
collector shall give bond to the trustees of their respec-
tive districts, with security to be prescribed and ap-
proved by the said trustees, for the faithful collection
and payment, over of the said district tax, and that im-
mediately upon the receipt of his duplicate, he shall
proceed to collect said tax, and shall pay it over to the
district trustees in quarterly payments, and the said dis-
trict tax collector shall have and exercise within his dis-
trict all the powers and rights to enforce the. payment of
said tax, which the collectors of State and county taxes
now have in this State within their respective districts, and
the trustees of each school district shall have within their
respective districts, for the purpose of enforcing the pay-
ment of the district tax, all such rights and powers as
are now held and exercised in this respect by the com-
missioners of the said county in relation to State and,

any or either of the school districts can raise the required
sum, or the sum determined upon by the school voters
at their said first stated meeting, by voluntary contribu-
tion, within twenty days from the said stated meeting,
it shall not be necessary to enforce the payment of the
said tax.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That whenever a dis-
trict has raised the required sum of fifty dollars, or such
additional sum as the voters may at their said first stated
meeting determine upon, the trustees of the said district
shall report the same to the board of education, who
shall thereupon order and direct the superintendent and
treasurer, to appropriate to the said district, the sum of
two hundred dollars, to be paid to the said trustees or
upon their order, to the teacher or teachers in said dis-
