CHAP. 221.

of school elections, reports of school districts, and alt
the papers of the board of education connected with
the school system, proper to be filed and preserved

and shall file the same, and shall enter in a book to
be kept by him for this purpose, a memorandum, in-
dex, or record thereof; he shall be ex-officio treasurer
of the county school funds; shall receive from the
orphans court of the county all monies and evidences
of debts, bonds, mortgages, certificates of stock, books,
papers, and accounts, in the hands of the said orphans
court, or of any of the officers thereof, belonging to-
the existing poor school fund of the county, except-
ing so much of the current fund in the hands of their
treasurer as may be necessary to meet the regular de-
mands upon it, for the tuition of poor children, until
the system to be established by this act shall go into
operation; he shall also receive from the treasurer of
the State all contributions or monies which may, from
time to time, be made or become due to Cecil county,
for and on account of the school fund of the State;
he shall also receive from the collector or collectors of
county taxes, all monies or taxes levied by the com-
missioners of the said county, and collected under
the authority of this act, fur school purposes, and he
shall disburse the said monies, taxes, and so forth, to
the order of the board of education, or of any board
of trustees, as the case may be, in the manner here-
inafter specified; as treasurer, he shall keep his books
and accounts regularly posted up every month, and
always open to the inspection of the board of educa-
tion, or of any of the district trustees; he shall open
an account with every school district in the county,
crediting each district with its annual allowance from
the county funds, and charging each order that may
be accepted and paid on district account; he shall an-

nually enter into a bond to the State of Maryland,
with not less than four securities, and in a penalty of
not less than twenty-five thousand, nor more than
forty thousand dollars, to be prescribed and approved
by the orphans court of the said county, conditioned
for the faithful discharge of the duties imposed upon
him as superintendent of common schools in Cecil
county, and for the safekeeping and faithful distribu-
tion of all monies intrusted to his charge, as treasurer
of the said school fund; he shall, also, before entering
upon the duties of his said office, take and subscribe, be-
fore some justice of the peace of the said county, the fol-
