member thereof shall on that account, if he be not a
party to such suit in his individual capacity, be incom-
petent as a witness.

CHAP. 174.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That it shall and
may be lawful for any married woman, with the assent
of her husband, signified by his signature to the appli-

cation for insurance, to apply for and have insurance in
said company on the property of said married woman,
and mat the premium note given by such married woman
and her husband shall be a lien upon the real estate so
insured, and shall be as binding and effectual upon her
as if she were a feme sole and unmarried.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this act

shall be in force and take effect as soon as the same
shall be accepted by the said company through its board
of directors, and that the act entitled, an act supple-
mentary to an act, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and forty-two, chapter two hundred and four-
teen, passed at the present session of the General As-
sembly, be and the same is hereby repealed.

When to go in-

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That nothing in the
original act to which this is an additional supplement,
shall be construed to exempt the premium notes from
State taxes.

CHAPTER 174.

Not exempted
from taxation.

An act entitled, an act supplementary to an act passed
at December session, eighteen hundred and forty-six,
chapter fifty-one.

Passed Feb. 27,
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the trustees of the poor of Bal-
timore county, be allowed one dollar each per day, and
five cents a mile, going to and from, for such days as
they may respectively attend at the Alms House, in ac-
cordance with the rules of that institution, regulating
the days on which visits shall be made.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said trustees
of the poor shall be allowed respectively, one dollar per

day, and five cents a mile, going to and from said insti-
tution, for such days us they may have attended at the
Alms House, subsequently to the passage of the act to
which this is a supplement.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the per diem allow-
ance of grand and petit jurors to Baltimore county court,
