CHAP. 104.

academy, and the execution of their ordinances, and
generally to manage the state and concerns of the said
academy, in such manner as they shall deem best for the
advantage of the institution.

bid.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as to authorise or empower
said corporation to issue any note, token, device, scrip
or other evidence of debt to be used as currency.

Reservation.

SEC. 8. And, be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as to deny the right of the
Legislature to repeal this grant at pleasure.

CHAPTER 103.

An act for the relief of Charles Crawford, a free man of
color.

Authorised to
visit this State.

Provisoes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Charles Crawford,a free man of color, now residing
in the District of Columbia, be and he is hereby per-
mitted to come into this State for the purpose of visit-
ing his wife, the slave of Eleanor B. M. Hilleary, of
Prince George's county; provided, the said Charles
Crawford shall give bond and security in the sum of fif-
ty dollars, to be filed in the office of the clerk of Prince
George's county court, for his good behavior in said
county, recoverable in the name of the State, before the
county court of said county; and provided further, that
the said Charles Crawford shall not come into this State
for the purpose of employment, and remain longer at any
one time than four days, unless detained by sickness.

rised.

An act to provide for the re-building of the Governor's
Bridge, over the Patuxent river.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Anne Arundel
county, and the levy court of Prince George's county,
be and they are hereby authorised and directed to levy
a sum of money, not exceeding one hundred and twen-
