CHAPTER. 10.

An act to make valid a deed from Samuel Maddux,
Stephen Silverthorn, Henry Silverthorn and Eliza-
beth Silverthorn of Somerset County, to Henry Beau-
champ of the same County.

CHAP. 11.

Jan. 11, 1848.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly of Maryland, that Samuel Maddux, Stephen Silver-
thorn, Henry Silverthorn and Elizabeth Silverthorn of
Somerset county did, on the third day of September,
in the year eighteen hundred and sixteen, execute to a
certain Henry Beauchamp of said county, a deed con-
veying to the said Beauchamp, a tract of land called
Rehoboth, lying and being in the said county; and
whereas, the said deed hath never been recorded agreea-
bly to law, and by reason thereof, is defective — to
remedy which,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the deed executed on the third day of Septem-
ber, in the year eighteen hundred and sixteen, from
Samuel Maddux, Stephen Silverthorn, Henry Silver-
thorn and Elizabeth Silverthorn of Somerset Coun-
ty to Henry Beauchamp of the same county, be
and the same is hereby Confirmed and made as
valid and effectual in law for all purposes whatsoever,
as fully as if the said deed had been recorded within the

time prescribed by law; provided, the said Henry
Beauchamp, shall within six months from the date of the
passage of this act, comply with the requirements of law
relating to the recording of deeds.

CHAPTER 11.

Proviso.

A supplement to the act passed at December session
eighteen hundred and thirty-one, chapter one hun-
dred and eleven, entitled, an act to incorporate
Mechanics Town in Frederick County.

Jan. 11, 1848.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sheriff of Frederick county shall
receive, and safe keep in the jail of said county, all
persons who shall hereafter be committed to said jail by
the burgess of Mechanicstown, or any justice of the
peace of Frederick county, for a violation of any of the
