CHAPTER 87.

An act for the relief of the Baltimore and Harford Turn-
pike Company.

WHEREAS, The Baltimore and Harford turnpike com-
pany in extending and completing the twenty miles of
roads required of said company to be made by their
charter, have, incurred a heavy debt, for the payment of
which the funds of said company are not adequate
— Therefore,

CHAP. 88.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That said Baltimore and Harford turnpike
company, be and they are hereby authorised, in their
discretion, and in such manner as they may deem proper
to create an additional number of shares to the present
capital stock of said company, and to sell the same, the
proceeds of the sale thereof to be applied to the pay-

ment of the debt aforesaid; provided nevertheless, thai
the said capital stock of said company, when so increased,
shall not exceed the sum of one hundred thousand dol-
lars, in shares of fifty, dollars each.

Proviso.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall have
no effect until it shall be adopted and accepted by a re-
solution of the President and Managers of the said com-
pany, authorised by a general meeting of the stock-
holders, to be convened for that purpose, a copy of said
resolution to be transmitted to the Governor of Mary-
land, to be filed in the Executive Department.
