RESOLUTIONS.

1847.

Resolved, That the orphans court of the several coun-
ties of the Eastern Shore of this State shall have the sole
and exclusive power to select from their respective coun-
ties the pupils to be entitled to admission to said college
under and by virtue of the aforegoing resolution, and
that the term and period of each pupil's continuance in
said college shall not exceed beyond the period of five
years, and no pupil shall be admitted under the age of
twelve years.
Resolved, That the several orphans courts of the State
in making the selection of the pupil to be admitted
to said college under the foregoing resolutions, shall
look exclusively to the moral and intellectual fitness and
claims of the respective applicants.

No. 32.

Resolution in favor of Charles A. Buchanan.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
The Treasurer of the Western Shore be and he is hereby
authorised and required to pay to Charles A. Buchanan,
or order, the sum of seven dollars and fifty cents, being
the amount of State tax erroneously charged to and
paid by the said Buchanan, prior to the year eighteen
hundred and forty-six.

Preamble and resolutions inviting the Governor and
Secretary of State to attend the funeral of the Hono-
rable John Quincy Adams, Ex-President of the United
States.

WHEREAS, the legislature have this day determined
by resolution to attend the funeral of Ex-President
Adams, at Washington, on to-morrow, Saturday, the
twenty-sixth instant — Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor of this State and the Secretary of
State be invited to unite with the members of the House
and of the Senate upon that occasion.
