LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 321.

Church in Calvert county, worshipping at Richardson's
chapel in said county, are desirous of changing the name
of said chapel to Saint John's chapel, and to have the
same incorporated — Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That said chapel shall hereafter be known
by the name, style and title of Saint John's chapel in
Calvert county.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Jacob Breeden,
Richard P. Breeden, Basil S. Dixon, James Lavielle,
Benjamin L. Lavielle, John W. Breeden and James B.
Breeden, and their successors to be appointed according
to the rules and discipline of the Methodist Episcopal
Church, are hereby created and declared a body politic

or corporate, by the name, style and title of the trustees
of Saint John's chapel in Calvert county, and by the
same name shall have perpetual succession, to have, hold,
enjoy and be seized and possessed of real, personal and
mixed estate, to sell and convey the same, to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded in any court of law or
equity in this State or elsewhere, to make and use a com-
mon seal and the same to break, alter and renew at
pleasure, and also to establish such bye-laws and ordi-
nances as shall appear necessary for regulating the tem-

poral concerns of said chapel; provided, the same be not
inconsistent with the laws of this State or the rules of
discipline which have been or may be established by
the competent and legal authorities of the Methodist
Episcopal Church in Maryland.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees and
their successors, be and they are hereby authorised and
empowered to purchase, receive and hold by deed of
conveyance, in fee, executed, acknowledged and record-
ed according to law, any lot or parcel of ground lying
in Calvert county, not exceeding in quantity twenty
acres, in trust for the use and benefit of said chapel.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That a majority of the
surviving trustees of Richardson's chapel in Calvert
county, to whom property or real estate may have
been conveyed in trust for the use and benefit of said
chapel, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered
to convey such property or real estate, with the buildings
and appurtenances thereto, unto the trustees and their
successors herein incorporated, for the use and benefit of
Saint John's chapel in Calvert county.
