CHAP. 306.

sons taking the bill of sale reside beyond the limits of
this State, then the said affidavit may be made before
any judge of a court of law or record of any State or
Territory of the United States, the said oath so to be
made to be endorsed on said instrument of writing and
authenticated agreeably to the act of Congress in such
case made nnd provided, before the same is recorded.

When instru-
ment is taken
by corporation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever corpora-
tions may take a mortgage or bill of sale, the oath re-
quired by the first section of the original act to which
this is a supplement, maybe made by the president,
cashier, secretary or other officer acting for and on be-
half of said corporation.

Made valid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all mortgages and
bills of sale executed and recorded since the passage of
the original act to which this is a supplement, without
having endorsed on them the affidavit as required by
said original act, shall be as good and valid in law as if

the said affidavit had been endorsed on said instra-
ments of writing as required by said original act, and
that this act shall take effect from and after its passage.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Withers, George L. Ward and
George H. Deane, and such other persons as may

scribed, shall be and they are hereby incorporated by

ing to market and vending the product of their lands,
mines and manufactories, and shall have power to take,
purchase and hold all such property, real, personal or
mixed as they may require for the purposes aforesaid,
and shall have power to make and enter into all manner

of contracts in relation to the business and property
