CHAP. 284.

higher rate of toll than is chargeable under the law of
December session eighteen hundred and forty-two, chap-
ter nine-six, regulating the tolls of the Cumberland, and
Somerset Turnpike Road Company.

Fines and
penalties.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the same fines and
penalties as are imposed by the second section of chap-
ter ninety-six, eighteen hundred and forty-two, be and
the same shall constitute part of this act:

To close road.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That whenever the said
turnpike shall be finished and open for travel, the said
president and directors be and they are hereby authoris-
ed, directed and empowered to close and shut up the
present County road along Wills' creek, and the said
county road shall then revert to the original owners of
the land, or those who now hold the land under them
by virtue of purchase otherwise, and the commission-
ers of Allegany county are hereby directed to strike
said county road along Wills' creek from the records of
said county, and shall not after the turnpike along

Wills' creek is completed, make any law whatever for
the repair of said road.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to. authorise the said corpora-
tion to issue any note, token, device or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

In force.

Reservation.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That this act of incor-
poration shall enure for thirty years from its passage,
and that the legislature reserves to itself the right to
alter or annual this act of incorporation whenever any
of the privileges hereby granted are violated.

CHAPTER 284.

Passed
March 8, 1848.

A supplement to the act entitled, and act to prevent
Frauds on the Revenue in the cases hereinafter men-
tioned, and to punish the perpetrators thereof, passed
at December session eighteen hundred and forty-six,
chapter one hundred and nine.

Penalty for

violating.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That any person committing any of the
offences mentioned in the first, second and fourth sec-
tions of the act to which this is a supplement, shall be
liable to indictment therefor, and upon conviction shall
be fined thirty dollars and costs, and imprisoned in the
county jail for not less than sixty days nor more than
