LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 277.

a right to vote which shall not have been holden one
month previous to the days of such general meeting, the
manner of calling such general meetings shall be regu-
lated by the bye-laws.

Not exempt
from taxation.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed to restrict the right of the le-
gislature to impose from time to time, and at all times
during the continuance of this act, and levy and collect
such reasonable tax upon the capital stock or estate of
this corporation, as may comport with the general sys-

tem of taxing monied institutions.

In force.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That this act shall con-
tinue and be in force until the first day of January eigh-

teen hundred and seventy-five.

Banking for-
bid.

Reservation.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to confer banking privileges on
said company, nor the right to issue any note in the
nature of a bank note.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That the legislature may
at any time repeal or amend this act when they may
deem said repeal or amendment beneficial to the com-
munity or the said company.

CHAPTER 276.

An act entitled, an act for the benefit of John E. Stewart,
of Kent County,

To transfer
interest.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John E. Stewart be and he is hereby authorised
and empowered, by and with the consent of the orphans
court of Kent county, to transfer all his right, title and
interest in a certain negro boy named William Gibbs,
bound to the said John E. Stewart for a term of years,
to Thomas Slaughter of Queen Anne's county.
