more city and county, any other law, custom or usage
to the contrary notwithstanding.

school house.

An act to provide for the building of a School House
in Saint Mary's County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the trustees of school district number one, in
election district number three, in Saint Mary's county,
be authorised to receive whatever proportion of the
school fund of said county as may be now due to said
school or may be hereafter due, and appropriate and use
so much thereof as in their judgment shall be neces-
sary to rebuild the school house of said school district
which has lately been destroyed by fire on such cen-
tral and convenient situation as the said trustees or a
majority of them shall designate and select.

AN act entitled, an act to authorise the recording of
a certain mortgage from the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal Company, to the State of Maryland.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, a deed of mortgage bearing date the
eighth day of January eighteen hundred and forty-six,
was executed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Com-
pany to this State, and duly delivered to the Treasurer
of the Western Shore of Maryland, according to the
provisions of the seventh section of the act entitled, an
act to provide for the completion of the Chesapeake and
Ohio Canal to Cumberland, and for other purposes,
passed at December session eighteen hundred and
forty-four, chapter two hundred and eighty-one; and
whereas, through mistake or inadvertance the, said deed
of mortgage has never yet been recorded, and the
time prescribed by law for recording the same having
elapsed, it is proper that full authority should be given

for such purpose— Therefore,
