CHAPTER 35.
An act to allow John W. Hawkins, late collector of
County and State taxes of Charles County, further
time to complete his collections.

Authorised to
collect.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John W. Hawkins, late collector of
State and county taxes of Charles county, be and is
hereby authorised and empowered to collect any taxes
or balances of taxes now remaining due to, and uncol-
lected by him in the county aforesaid, in the same
manner, and with the same power and privileges as are
allowed by existing laws in said cases made and pro-
vided.

count, with
affidavit.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said John W.
Hawkins shall, in every instance, before he shall pro-
ceed to the aforesaid collection, make affidavit before
some justice of the peace for said county, that the
same remains unpaid, and that he has not received any
security or satisfaction for the same, or any part thereof,
more than the credit allowed thereon.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall re-
main in full force until the first day of January eighteen
hundred and forty-nine, and no longer.

Extension of
time granted.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
The time allowed Jacob Grove, former sheriff of
Carroll county, to complete his collections, be and the
same is hereby extended to the first day of January,
eighteen hundred and forty-nine.
