An act to divorce James C. Stevens, from his wife Emily
Ann Stevens, of Queen Anne's County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That James C. Stevens, be and he is hereby divorced
from his wife Emily Ann Stevens., a vinculo matrimonii.

CHAPTER 216.

March 8, 1848.

An act to divorce Josephine Russell of the city of Balti-
more, from her husband William H. Russell.

Divorced.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Josephine Russell of the city of Baltimore, be and
she is hereby divorced from her husband William H.
Russell, a vinculo matrimonii.

CHAPTER 217.

Preamble.

An act for the relief of Thomas Sater.

WHEREAS, Thomas Sater, formerly of Baltimore
county, but now of Carroll county, was some years since
appointed by the commissioners of Baltimore county, a
collector of tax in and for the collection district
of said county; and whereas, a part of said collection dis-
trict has since been included in and now constitutes a
part of Carroll county; and whereas, some doubts exists
as to the legal authority of said Sater to complete his
collections— Therefore,

Empowered
to collect.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said Thomas Sater, as collector
aforesaid, be and he is hereby authorised and empower-
ed to complete his collections in said district, in the
same manner that it would have been lawful for him
to have done as if the act creating Carroll county had
not been passed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Thomas Sater for-
mer collector of taxes as aforesaid, be and he is hereby
authorised and empowered to collect any taxes or ba~
