1847.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That there shall be a

dividend of profits on tolls to be levied as aforesaid,
all expenses being first deducted therefrom.

CHAP. 205.

Dividends—

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That if any instalment
on stock shall remain unpaid for the space of two months
from the time at which it should have been paid, the
same shall thereby become forfeited to the said com-
pany, and may he disposed of by the said president and
directors as to them may appear most advantageous to
the said company.

In case of ne-
glect.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That no subscriber,
stockholder or member of said company shall be an-
swerable in his person or his individual property for
any act, contract or engagement of said company, or of
the president and directors thereof.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the State hereby
reserves the power to impose such tax on the stock of
said company as she imposed on similar property in
this State.

Not exempt
from taxation.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
be construed so as to authorise the said corporation to
issue any note, token, device, scrip or other evidence of
debt to be deed as a currency.

CHAPTER 205.
An act authorising the Levy Court of Frederick Coun-

ty, in their discretion, to levy a sum of money to build
a Bridge over Bennett's Creek.

Passed
March 7, 1848.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Frederick county
be and they are hereby authorised and empowered, in
their discretion, to levy on the assessable property of
said county a sum not exceeding six hundred dollars,
in two equal annual instalments, for the purpose of
building a bridge over Bennett's creek, at or near the
Burnt House ford, on the public road leading from New
Market to Greenfield Mills.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of
said county are hereby authorised and empowered to

appoint three commissioners to view and examine the
ground and fix upon the proper site or situation for
building said bridge, and to make condemnation of
