Not to impair

State's priori-

ty.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall not be
construed as to impair the liens of the State securing

her priority in regard to the payment of the current in-
terest upon loans made by the State to the Baltimore
and Susquehanna rail road company.

An act to incorporate a Company for constructing a
Bridge at Berlin, Frederick County, Maryland
across the Potomac River.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas Crampton, M. W. Fosit,
William Graham, Robert L. Wright, Adam Househol-
der and Daniel Boland, be and they are hereby com-
missioners for the purposes hereinafter mentioned, with
power to supply any vacancy that may occur by death,
resignation or otherwise, that is to say, they, or a ma-

jority of them, after twenty days notice in one or more
newspapers published at Frederick city, Frederick
county, Maryland, and in one or more newspapers pub-
lished at Leesburg, Loudon county, Virginia, shall or

may open a book or books, at such place or places as
they may designate, for raising subscriptions to con-
struct a bridge at Berlin, Frederick county, Maryland,
across the Potomac river, and thereupon they shall pro-
ceed to receive subscriptions for the capital stock of the
said company which is hereby limited at fifty thousand
dollars, to he divided into two thousand shares of twen-
ty-five dollars each, and the said book or books shall
be kept open for six consecutive days, and in case of
an excess of subscription the commissioners shall de-
duct from the largest in such manner that no one shall
be reduced while any remains larger, and if the whole
number of shares shall not have been subscribed for
within that time the said commissioners, or a majority
of them, shall give notice as aforesaid of the time and
place or places when and where they will receive sub-
scriptions for the remaining shares.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall have full power and authority to contract
for and cause to be erected the bridge aforementioned,
and are hereby authorised to select such site for said
