had paid him the said Robert, the purchase money for
the same; and whereas, the said Roberd Stewart hath
departed this life without having executed a deed to the
said George L. H. Woolford for said lands, and by
reason of his death, the said George L. H. Woolford is
without remedy — Now, Therefore,

CHAP. 158.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That from and after the passage of this act, upon the
application of the said George L. H. Woolford, his heirs
or assigns, to the judges of the fourth judicial district of

this State, or any one of them, be or they are hereby au-
thorised and required in a summary manner, to hear and
examine into the truth of the several matters set forth
in the preamble to this act, and if upon such hearing
and examination the said judge or judges shall believe
said facts to be true, and that said sale was in all
respects fair, he or they, shall order and direct the pre-
sent sheriff of Somerset county, or such other person as
he or they may think proper, to execute, acknowledge
and deliver according to law, a deed to the said George
L. H. Woolford, hi heirs or assigns, for all the right,
title and interest of the said Eleanor Mezzick, in and to
the said tracts of land at the time of said sale, which
deed when so executed shall be valid and effectual in
law, and sufficient evidence of said sale.

CHAPTER 158.

An act ceding to the United Stales of America, the juris-
diction over the site of the Naval School at Annapolis.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the jurisdiction and control over the
lands owned by the United States, constituting the
site of the Naval School at Annapolis, formerly
known as Fort Severn, together with the lots recently
purchased by the United States, adjoining the said for-
tification, and the water rights appertaining thereto, be
and the same are hereby vested in the United States of
America for military and naval purposes, the whole com-
prehended within the following courses and bounds,

namely: beginning at the south-east end of the north-east
side of Scott street on the shore of the harbor of Anna-
polis, where is built the south-east end the brick wall,
which with the river Severn and the harbor aforesaid,
