CHAPTER 145.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to reduce the levy
court of Calvert county to three, and to change the
mode of election.

One member
of levy court
to be elected
for each elec-
tion district.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so much of the act passed at December session
eighteen hundred and forty-seven, as prescribes the
mode of electing the members of the levy court of Cal-
vert county, be and the same is hereby repealed, and
that the mode of election shall be the same as prescrib-
ed by the act of December session eighteen hundred
and thirty-eight, chapter two hundred and fifty-nine, so
as to secure to each election district one member of the
levy court of said county.

Removal of
causes to be
had on certain
conditions.

An act relating to the removal of causes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That in any suit or action at law, arising
ex delicto, which may be now pending or hereafter
instituted in Baltimore county court, and in which a sug-
gestion in writing of any party, plaintiff or defendant,
shall be made at any time before trial, supported by af-
fidavit, that a fair and impartial trial cannot be had at a
county term of said court, where the suit or action is on
the county docket, or at a city term of said court, where
the suit or action is on the city docket, the judges of the
said courts on prayer of the party making the suggestion
aforesaid, shall order and direct the said suit or action, if it
be on the county docket, to be transferred to the end of
the city docket, and if it be on the city docket to be trans-
ferred to the end of the. county docket, to be heard and
determined at the next terra for the city or county, as
the case may be, in the same manner as if originally
brought on the docket to which it shall have been so

transferred; provided, that unless the party making the
suggestion aforesaid shall elect and pray for the trans-
fer allowed by this act, the suit or action shall be re-
moved as if this act had not been passed.

acts repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall go into effect from its passage, and that all acts or
parts of acts in contravention thereof are hereby re-
pealed.
