CHAP. 140.

sitions in the cause which render it very probable that
said claims would be allowed at the hearing of the cause,
and that the other parties interested have taken no mea-
sures to exclude said claims or hasten the distribution of
the fund aforesaid, and it is believed they have abandoned
any interest they might have in said fund, to the payment
of said claims.

Chancellor to
examine, and
admit or reject
claims.
|
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the chancellor be and he is hereby
authorised and requested, on application by the said
surviving trustee or any other party to said suit, to ex-
amine the proceedings in said cause, and thereupon ad-
mit or reject said claims, or any of them, and pass such
other order as may be necessary to close said trust, and
the chancellor is authorised so to act in a summary man-
ner, or after giving such notice by publication as he may
deem expedient.

An act to allow Lemuel Clements, trustee of henry Lilly,
deceased, late sheriff and collector of Montgomery
county, further time to complete his collections.

Empowered to
collect.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, Lemuel
Clements, trustee of Henry Lilly, deceased, late sheriff
and collector of Montgomery county, or any trustee
that may he appointed hereafter, be and he is hereby
empowered to collect all fees, taxes and levies in the
same manner in which the said Henry Lilly was autho-

Provisoes.

rised to do whilst he was in office; provided, that if
any person or persons, or his, her or their representa-
tives, against whom any such fees, taxes or levies may
have been rendered, will make oath or affirmation be-
fore a justice of the peace that the same has been satis-
fied or paid, that this act shall not extend to such cases;
provided also, that the powers conferred by this act shall
not continue in force longer than the first day of Decem-
ber eighteen hundred and forty-nine.
