answer and be answered in any court of law or equity,
and to make and use a common seal, and the same to
change and alter at pleasure, and to ordain and establish
such by-laws and regulations not contrary to laws, as

shall be necessary or convenient for conducting the affairs
of the corporation.

CHAP. 83.

Establish by-
laws.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation,
shall and is hereby authorised to hold by gift, devise, be-

quest or purchase any real, personal or mixed property ;
provided, the same does not exceed the value of three
thousand dollars.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act,
be construed so as to Authorise the said corporation to
issue any note, token, device, scrip or other evidence of
debt to be used as a currency.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpo-
ration, shall enure for thirty years from it passage, and

that the Legislature reserves to itself the right to alter

or annul this act of incorporation at pleasure.

An act for the extension and completion of the bridge
crossing Fishing Creek at the Utica Mills.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Frederick county be,
and they are hereby authorised and directed to levy or
the assessable property of said county, the sum of three
hundred dollars, for the purpose of extending the wing
walls and filling up the road on the north end as far as
high water mark, so as to run level from that point to
the floor of the bridge, and the south end to have some
additional filling up, and if it shall appear to the levy
court that an additional arch is necessary either for the
public convenience, or to prevent injury to improved pri-
vate property, such as buildings, or their appendages, or
the safety of the bridge then, and in that case, it shall be
the duty of the levy court to levy an additional sum suffi-
cient for that purpose; provided, the entire levy autho-
rised by this act, shall not exceed the sura of six hundred
dollars.
