CHAPTER 79.

An act to authorize the County Commissioners of Wor-
cester County, to levy a sum of money for the pur-
pose of building a Wharf in said County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the county commissioners of Worcester county be,
and they are hereby authorised and required, if in their
judgment they may deem it expedient, to levy upon the
assessable property of said county, such sum or sums of

money, as may in their opinion be sufficient to build a
substantial public wharf on the east side of Pocomoke
river, at Cottingham's Ferry, so as not to interfere with
the Ferry boat landing; and that the sum or sums of
money so as aforesaid directed to be levied for the use
aforesaid, shall be applied by the said commissioners in
such manner as they may deem most advisable for the
accomplishment of the object intended by the levy, and
the said sum or sums of money levied as aforesaid, shall
be collected and paid over as other county charges.


CHAPTER 80.

Build a public
wharf.

An act authorising the Levy Court of Frederick County,
to erect a bridge over Little Catoctin Creek, where the
main road leading from Middletown to Beallsville,
near James Kinna's Mill, crosses said Creek,

18, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
it shall and may be lawful for the levy court of Freder-
ick county, in their discretion, to levy a sum of money on
the assessable property of said county, not exceeding
two hundred dollars in two equal annual instalments, for
the purpose of building a bridge over Little Catoctin
creek, where the main road leading from Middletown to
Beallsville, near James Kinna's mill, crosses said creek.

SEC. 2, And be it enacted, That the said levy court
may in their discretion, contract with any person or per-
sons, to erect said bridge of such materials as they in
their judgment may think proper, and shall requite the
said contractor or contractors, to give bond with sufficient
security to be approved of by the said levy court, for his
or their faithful performance.
