FREE NEGRO AND MULATTO CHILDREN—

Upon information given to any consta-

ble or justice where such reside, that

there are any child or children, of any free

negro, &c., who ought to be bound out

under act of 1839, chapter 35, they shall

give notice to the person having the

custody of such, that they must be bound,

&c., and if parent, &c. fail within 20

days from time of notice, constable if he

give the notice, to carry child, &c. be-

fore two justices of the peace, who

shall bind them, &.c, in the same man-

ner as orphans courts now do; if notice

be given by justice, and failure on part

of parent, &c., justice to issue his war-

rant to some constable to carry such

child before some two justices and

bind, &c.; compensation $200 to each

justice and constable for binding each

child, to be paid by person to whom

bound.
