Resolution authorising the appropriation of Five Thousand
Dollars for the Contingent Expenses of this State.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the sum of five thousand dollars be, and it is hereby ap-
propriated to defray the contingent expenses of the State
for the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven
and the treasurer is authorised and directed to pay, upon
the orders of the Executive, any sums not exceeding
that amount, out of any unappropriated, money in the
treasury.

Resolution in favor of the Deaf and Dumb Institution of
Pennsylvania.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor of this State be, and he is hereby autho-
rised and required, to pay the President of the Institu-
tion in Pennsylvania, for the education of Deaf and
Dumb persons, the sum of one hundred and seventeen
dollars and sixty-eight cents; provided, the said presi-
dent shall receive the said sum in full for all claims against
this State, for boarding and educating Maria Deborah
Wilson.

WHEREAS, a compiled digested Index of the Laws
of Maryland, on the plan of a work published in the
year seventeen hundred and ninety-nine, by Thomas
Herty, would be of great advantage, usefulness and
convenience to the citizens of the State at large; and
whereas, Charles W. Webster, Esquire, of Carroll coun-
ty, offers to compile a book of that character, embracing
