RESOLUTIONS.

same ought to be paid, to pay such an amount of money
as he may deem a fair compensation to John H. Goddard,
of Washington city, for services in arresting Allison
McDonal, indicted for murder in Montgomery county
court.

15, 1847.

Resolutions in relation to the Widows of those who have
fallen, or shall fall in the War with Mexico.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Senators and Representatives of this State, in the
Congress of the Uuited States be, and they are hereby
requested to use all proper efforts to procure such legis-
lation as shall provide, out of the common treasury of the
Nation, adequate and just pensions for the widows of
those who have fallen, or shall fall in the military service
of their country during the existing War with Mexico.
Resolved, That the Governor be requested to forward
a copy of the above resolution to the Maryland Senators
and Representatives in Congress.

Resolutions in relation to the Chancellor of Maryland.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the annual salary of the Chancellor for all duties and
services whatever, prescribed or to be prescribed by law,
shall be three thousand dollars, and that the same be paid
him by the treasurer in quarterly payments.
Resolved, That the said treasurer pay to the present
Chancellor, the same rate of compensation from the twen-
ty-first day of December last, the day of his appointment
and qualification, to the first of January, of the present
year, from which period the quarterly payments provided
for in the preceding resolution shall commence.
