CHAPTER 340.

A supplement to the act entitled, an act to give to the Chan-

cellar and the County Courts as courts of Equity, juris-
diction in cases of divorces.

CHAP. 341.

10, 1847.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the jurisdiction of the chancellor and of the
county courts, as courts of equity, to decree divorces,
shall extend to all cases in which before the marriage,
the female shall be guilty of illicit carnal intercourse with
another man, the same being unknown to the husband
at the time of the marriage, and when such carnal con-
nection shall be proved to the satisfaction of the chan-
cellor or any of the said county courts as courts of equity,
the court shall grant a divorce a vinculo matrimonii.

CHAPTER 341.

Jurisdiction of
Chancellor.

An act to provide for the Inspection of Guano in the City f
of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, with the advice and con-
sent of the State, shall, after the passage of this act, and

before the first day of May next, and in every year there-
after appoint a practical chemist of integrity and good
character, as inspector of Guano in the city of Balti-

more.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said inspector of

guanoso appointed, before he enters upon the execution
of the duties of his office, shall make the following oath
or affirmation before the Mayor, or some justice of the
peace in the city of Baltimore: I do solemnly swear, or
affirm, as the case may be, that I will faithfally, truly,
and impartially execute the duties imposed upon me by
law, as inspector of guano, to the best of my judgment
and understanding, and that I will not buy, trade or bar-
ter, or be concerned directly or indirectly, in buying,
trading or bartering for any guano in the city of Balti-
more, whilst an inspector thereof, so help me God.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after the
passage of this act, it shall not be lawful to sell, expose
or offer for sale, any guano within the limits of the city
