1848.

no sheriff, constable or collector of tax in this State,
shall be allowed to sell, dispose of, remove, or offer for
sale, the property of any soldier, a citizen of Maryland,
who has volunteered his services to serve in the Mexican
War, and who has been received into the service of the
United States.

CHAP. 333.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That from and after the
passage of this act, citizens of Maryland who may have

attached themselves to p.ny volunteer corps, for the pur-
pose of serving their country in the Mexican War, shall
be free from arrest in all civil cases.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing contained
in this act shall be so construed as to operate as a release
to the debtor for any debt due by him, but that after his
return from service, the creditors of such citizen soldier
shall have and enjoy all the rights now guarantied to
such creditor by the laws of this State, and the plea of
the statute of limitation shall be no bar, unless the said
plea would have been a legal defence prior to the en-
listment of said soldier.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all acts, or parts of
acts, inconsistent with this act be, and the same are
hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 333.

Repealed.

An act to incorporate a Company to make a Turnpike
Road from Hagerstown, in Washington County, to the
Pennsylvania line.

10, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Joseph Gabby, Frederick Zeigler,
Abraham Strete, Lewis Zeigler, John Mentzer, Frede-
rick Dorsey, and all other persons who may have sub-
scribed, or may hereafter subscribe to the stock of said
company be, and they are hereby incorporated a body
politic, for making a turnpike road, !o be commenced at
some point within the corporate limits of the town of
Hagerstown, and extended to the Pennsylvania line, in
the direction of Waynesborough through the towa of Lei-
tersburg.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
said company shall not exceed thirty thousand dollars, to
be divided into shares of twenty-five dollars each, and
