CHAP. 38.

Airy, and negro boy George, slaves for life; provided,
the said John T. Holtzman comply with the provisions
of the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter
fifteen, section first.

CHAPTER 37.

5, 1847.

Preamble.

An act for the relief of William B. Scott, of Washington
City.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this Legislature, that
William B. Scott, of Washington city, has purchased land
in the State of Maryland, and is desirous of removing
from the State of Virginia, certain negro slaves belonging
to him into the State of Maryland, for the purpose of culti-
vating the said land.

bring.

Proviso.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William B. Scott, of Washington city, is hereby
authorised to introduce into the State of Maryland, his
negro slaves now remaining in the State of Virginia ;
provided, that in respect of registry and payment of colo-
nization lax, he observe the provisions of the act of eight-
teeen hundred and thirty nine, chapter one hundred and
fifty-five.

CHAPTER 38.

Passed Feb.
5. 1847.

A further supplement to the act passed at December session
eighteen hundred and thirty-three, chapter two hundred
and fifty-four, entitled, an act to prevent the destruction
of oysters in the waters of this State.

Confirmed, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all the powers and authorities vested in
the sheriffs of the different counties of this State, by the
act passed December session eighteen hundred and thirty-
three, chapter two hundred and fifty-four, and the supple-
ment thereto, passed at December session eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and ten be,
and the same are hereby confirmed upon all constables
and military officers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the passage of the same.
