the same, under the hand and seal of the justice before
whom they are sworn, to the commissioners of the school
fund of Queen Anne's county, at their first meeting in
January thereafter; in the event of a vacancy or vacan-
cies in the board of trustees in any of the school dis-

tricts in said election district number four, the said com-
missioners shall have power, and they are hereby autho-
rised and required, to fill said vacancy or vacancies, as
the case may be, by appointment, and the person or per-
sons so appointed shall qualify as before named, and re-
turn the certificate thereof to said commissioners at
their next meeting, or as soon thereafter as practicable.

CHAP. 237.

In the event of
a vacancy.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That it shall not be lawful
for the commissioners before named to pay over any part
of the school fund to any trustee or trustees, or to his or
their order, for the use of any school in said election
district, who shall not have qualified and returned a cer-
tificate thereof as before directed.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all acts, or parts of
acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act be, and
they are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 237.

Not to pay ov-
er funds until
trustees have
qualified.

Repealed.

An act to allow James Morris further time to complete

his collections.

8, 1947.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That James Morris, late collector of the se-
cond collection district of Howard District be, and he
is hereby authorised and empowered to collect any taxes
or balances of taxes now remaining due to and uncollected
by him in the district aforesaid, in the same manner and
with the same power and privileges as me allowed by
the existing laws in such cases made and provided.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said James
Morris shall, in every instance, before he shall proceed
to the aforesaid collection, make affidavit, before some
justice of the peace for Howard District, that the same
remains unpaid, and that he has not received any security
or satisfaction for the same, or any part thereof, more
than the credit allowed thereon.

Make affidavit.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not:
not continue in force longer than one year from the date
of the passage thereof.
