CHAPTER 197.

An act to incorporate the Ringgold Dragoons.

Incorporated.

Name & style.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
Ezra Doub, Cornelius Staly, William Tyler and other,
who are or may hereafter become members of a volunteer
corps of cavalry, recently organised in Frederick county,

and their succcessors be, and they are hereby declared to

be a body corporate, by the name, style and title of the

Ringgold Dragoons, of Frederick county, and by that
name may hold real and personal property, not exceed-
ing in value the sum of five thousand dollars, current
money, exclusive of the arms and equipments of the said
company.

Corporate
powers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said company
and their successors by the aforesaid name, shall be capa-
ble in law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded,
answer and be answered, defend and be defended, in all
or any court of justice, and befoie any judge or justice
in this State, in all and singular actions or demands, and
to ordain, establish and enforce such by-laws, ordinances
and regulations, as to them shall seem conducive to the
interest of said company, and necessary to the good go-
vernment and management thereof, not being contrary to
the existing laws and constitution of this State, or of the
United States.

Banking pri-
vileges forbid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained, shall be so construed as to confer upon said com-
pany or corporation, banking privileges, or to authorise
and empower said corporation to issue any note or notes,
scrip, evidence of debt, token or other device to be used
or circulated as currency, and that nothing herein con-
tained, shall be so construed as to deny the right of this

An act for the relief of Charles S. Williams of Charles
County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is represented to this General Assembly,
that Charles S. Williams, in the year eighteen hundred
