two justices of the peace who took the acknowledgment
thereof, had signed their names thereto.

CHAPTER 155.

CHAP. 155.

An act relating to the property qualification of the Collec-
tor of Taxes for Harford County.

27, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That so much of the act of seventeen hun-
dred and ninety-four, chapter fourteen, and of the act of
seventeen hundred and ninety-eight, chapter seventy-
one, which requires the collectors of taxes for Harford
county to be seized, in fee, of real estate, before they
shall qualify as collectors of taxes for said county be,
and the same is hereby repealed.

Repealed.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
and be in force from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 156.

Take effect.

An act to allow Eli Haines, former Collector of State
and County Taxes in Cecil County, further time to
complete his collections.

Passed March
1, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Eli Haines, former collector of the
State and county taxes in Cecil county be, and he is
hereby authorised to collect any and all taxes or balan-
ces of taxes due to him and now remaining unpaid, for
the several years in which he was collector as aforesaid in
said county, in the same manner, and with the same pri-
vileges and powers he could or might have done within
the time limited by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Eli Haines,
before he proceeds to collect under and by virtue of this
act, shall make out and deliver to the person or persons
from whom any taxes or balances may be demanded, an
account of the taxes or balances of taxes due from such
person or persons, and if the amount claimed be disputed
by the party, shall annex an affidavit that the same is due
and unpaid.
