LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 17.

Corporate
powers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
and their successors, by the name, number and title afore-
said, shall be capable in law to sue and be sued, plead
and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend
and be defended in all or any courts of justice, and be-
fore all and any judges, officers or persons whatsoever
in all and singular actions, matters or demands what-
soever.

Common seal.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may.be
lawful for the said corporation to have a common seal
for their use, and the same, at their will and pleasure,
to change, alter and make anew, from time to time as
they may think best; and shall, in general, have and
exercise all such rights, privileges and immunities as by
law are incident or necessary to corporations, and which
may be necessary to the corporation herein constituted,
and to enable the members of said Order to exercise all
things concerning the design of this corporation for the
benevolent relief of the sick and distressed, and for the
promotion of their purposes generally.

May alter by-
laws.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have power to alter and amend their by-laws at
pleasure; provided such alterations or amendments do
not conflict with the laws of the United States, the laws
of the State of Maryland, or the laws of the Grand Divi-
sion of the State of Maryland of the Order of the Sons
of Temperance.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence
of debt to be used as a currency.

Enure for 40
years.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall enure for forty years from the date of its pas-
sage, but that the Legislature reserves to itself the right
to alter or annul this act at pleasure.

An act to regulate the meeting of the Orphans Court of
Montgomery County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That, from and after the passage of this act,
