CHAPTER 125.

An act for the benefit of the Trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, in the Eastern Station of the City
of Baltimore, and of the Trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal Church in the Caroline Station.

CHAP. 125.

26, 1847.

WHEREAS, a certain Isabella Foster, of the city of
Baltimore, by her last will and testament, of record among
the records of the orphans court for Baltimore county,
in liber D. M. P., number thirteen, folio four hundred and
fifty-four, bequeathed the one-half of her estate unto
the Methodist Episcopal Church, to be equally divided
between the two congregations of said church, worship-
ping in Caroline street and Wilk street, on Fell's Point,
in the city of Baltimore; and whereas, if is doubtful
whether the said bequest is good in law, without the
leave of the Legislature — Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the provisions of the said last will and
testament, so far as the bequest aforesaid is concerned,
be ratified and confirmed.

confirmed.

SEC, 2. And be it enacted, That the Trustees of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, in the Eastern Station of
the city of Baltimore, and the Trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal Church in the Caroline Station, And their suc-
cessors, regularly appointed, representing in their cor-
porate capacity the two congregations of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, worshipping in Wilk street and Caro-
line street, on Fell's Point, in the city of Baltimore, re-
spectively be, and they are hereby authorised to take,
have and receive, and to demand, sue for and recover in
any court of law or equity in 'this State, the legacy be-
queathed by the last will and testament of Isabella Fos-
ter aforesaid to the Methodist Episcopal Church, to be
equally divided between the two congregations of said
church, worshipping in Caroline street and Wilk street,
on Fell's Point, in the city of Baltimore; the said lega-
cy, when received, to be equally divided between the
trustees of the said two churches or congregations re-
spectively, any thing in the laws of this. State to the
contrary not withstanding.
