CHAP. 45.
|
ed on the twentieth day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty-five, between
William C. Barney, of the city of Baltimore, and Eliza-
beth Booth, of the town of New Castle, in the State of
Delaware; AND WHEREAS, it further appears upon sat-
isfactory evidence, that the said ceremony, though per-
formed, was not understood by the parties to it, as con-
stituting a valid marriage unless certain conditions were
performed by the said William C. Barney, upon which
alone the consent of the said Elizabeth Booth was given
to the marriage; AND WHEREAS, it also appears that the
said conditions have not been performed, and therefore
doubts are entertained as to the validity of the said mar-
riage; to remove which doubts, and to protect the said
Elizabeth Booth from all the consequences which may
be supposed to result from the said ceremony, and to re-
store to her all the rights and privileges which she en-
joyed prior to the said ceremony, therefore

Divorced.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Elizabeth Booth be and she is hereby di-
vorced absolutely from the said William C. Barney, a
vinculo matrimonii, that she be known and called by the
name of Elizabeth Booth; and that she be and is hereby
restored to all the rights and privileges which she en-
joyed or could enjoy as a feme sole, in the same manner,
and as fully and effectually, to all intents and purposes
whatsoever, as if the said ceremony had never been per-
formed.

An act entitled, a supplement to an act to extend the
charters of the several Banks in the city of Baltimore.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, the act to which this is a supplement,
passed December session eighteen hundred and thirty-
four, designed and meant to embrace the president and
directors of the Marine Bank of Baltimore, and extend
the charter of said bank, until the end of the year eigh-
|
|
|
Proviso.
|
teen hundred and fifty-six; provided, said corporation
should be subject from and after the first day of January
eighteen hundred and forty-five, to all the rules, restric-
tions, limitations and provisions declared to be the fun-
damental articles of the constitution of the corporation
|
