CHAP. 43.

Trustees to
dispose of the
surplus.

always, that the said rules, by-laws and orders, be in no
way contrary to the laws of this State.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said trustees shall
dispose of all products arising from the cultivation of said
land, over and above what may be necessary for the
maintenance of the poor of the said poor house, and the
amount of money arising from such sale or sales, after
paying all the expenses of the said poor house and farm,
shall, annually, on the first Tuesday of April in each and
every year, be returned on oath and paid over to the
commissioners of Somerset county, to be applied for the
benefit of said county, and in case the products of said
farm shall be insufficient for the maintenance of the poor
in said poor house, the said commissioners of the said
county shall annually levy, as now provided by law, for
the use of the said trustees such sum as in addition to
said products shall be necessary.

Repealed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all laws heretofore
passed, authorising and empowering the trustees of the
poor in Somerset county to keep out pensioners, and
grant and allow said pensioners annual pensions, be, and
the same are hereby repealed, any law or usage to the

contrary notwitstanding; provided, however, it shall and
may be lawful for said trustees to grant an allowance
within their discretion to persons confined to his or her
bed with disease, and unable to be removed to said poor
house, and said allowance may be continued as long as
said confinement and inability last, and no longer.

Repealed.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent
with the provisions of this act be, and the same are here-
by repealed.

CHAPTER 43.

An act to incorporate the Trustees of the Burnt Mill
School in Washington County.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Samuel Cost, Emanuel Morrison, and
Jacob Staups, trustees for a school established in elec-
tion district Number one, of Washington county, known
as the Burnt Mill School, and their successors, to be ap-
pointed or elected as hereinafter directed, shall from and
after the passage of this act, be and they are hereby
