LAWS OF MARYLAND

CHAP. 38.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That a general meeting of
the members of the company may be called in such man-
ner, and after such notice as shall be prescribed by the
constitution or by-laws, at which general meeting, the
constitution or by-laws may be repealed, changed or al-
tered.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token, scrip, devise, or other evidence
of debt, to be used as currency.

In force 20 y'rs.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That this act of incor-
poration shall inure for twenty years from the time of its
passage or until the end of the session of the General
Assembly thereafter.

Right reserv-
ed.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That the legislature re-
serves to itself the right to alter or annul this act of in-
corporation at pleasure.

CHAPTER 38.

Passed Jan.
26, 1846.

An act to authorise the Commissioners of tax, of Carroll
county, to levy a sum of money for building a bridge
over Big Pipe Creek, in said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of tax, of Carroll
county, be, and they are hereby authorised and empow-
ered, if they deem it expedient, to levy upon the asses-
sable property of said county, the sum of five hundred
dollars, to build a bridge over Big Pipe creek at or near
where the said creek crosses the county road leading
from Middleburgh to Taneytown in said county; said
sum of money to be levied in the following manner, viz:
two hundred and fifty dollars to be levied at the time the
annual levy of said county in the year eighteen hundred
and forty-six, and two hundred and fifty dollars to be
levied at the time of the annual levy of said county in the
year of eighteen hundred and forty-seven.

Commission-
ers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Josiah Parrish, Isaac
Dern, and Peter Koons, be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners to contract for the building of
said bridge; and it shall be the duty of said commission-
ers, after making said contract, to report the same to the
commissioners of tax for said county, and the said com-
