CHAP. 299.

CHAPTER 298.

Passed Mar.
9, 1846.

A supplement to an act entitled, a further supplement to
an act entitled, an act for the distribution of a certain
fund, for the purpose of establishing Free Schools in
the several counties therein named, and for other pur-
poses, passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and twenty-one, chapter one hundred and thirty-nine.

To appoint
three commis-
sioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the justices of the orphans' court of
Caroline county shall be, and they are hereby authorised,
empowered and required to appoint three commissioners,
whenever requested by petition in writing, signed by a
majority of the voters of any school district in said coun-
ty, to alter and change the present school districts, and
to form and establish new districts whenever in their
judgment the interest and convenience of the people shall
require it; provided, that any alteration or change, which
they shall make or authorise to be made, or any new dis-
trict or districts which they may form, shall be set forth
in writing under their hands and seals, and filed with the
register of wills of the county.

Commission-
ers to receive
$1 per day.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
to be appointed under this act, shall not be taken from
the school district applying for such alteration or change,
and that they shall each receive the sum of one dollar for
every days attendance, to be paid out of the apportion-
ment of the school fund allotted to such district.

In effect from
its passage.

SEC. 3. And he it enacted, That this act shall go into
operation and take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 299.

9, 1846.

An act entitled, a supplement to the act passed at the pre-
sent session entitled, an act for the relief of the ad-
ministrators of William Thomas, deceased, late Deputy
Sheriff of Prince George's County.

In effect.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the act passed at the present session, entitled an act
for the relief of the administrators of William Thomas,
deceased, late deputy sheriff of Prince George's county,
shall go into operation from and after the passage of this
act.
