this State and of Howard District, and they are hereby
directed and required, to dispose of and sell on the best
terms they can lor cash, all the different copies of laws,
journals and other public documentary volumes, that are
distributed annually to magistrates and others, which may
be remaining in their respective offices, uncalled for by
those entitled to the same, after the aforesaid date.

CHAP. 221.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That on all monies raised
on such sales made as aforesaid, the several clerks shall
be entitled to five per cent, to be deducted from the pro-
ceeds of the sales made as hereinbefore directed, and the
said clerks shall pay over to the Treasurer of the State,
the balance remaining in their hands, to be applied to
State purposes, and the official bond of such clerks shall
be liable for the faithful discharge of the provisions of
this act.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That after the passage
of this act, the clerks aforesaid, shall be entitled to sell on
the terms aforesaid, all copies of laws, journals and pub-
lic documents, that are then remaining uncalled for in
their offices, and apply the proceeds as aforesaid.

CHAPTER 221.

Clerks to sell,

An act to allow Charles G. Haslup and James Morris,
further time to complete their collections.

Passed Mar.
2, 1846.

SECTION l. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Charles G. Haslup and James Morris,
collectors of the first and second collection districts of
Howard District, be and they are hereby authorised and
empowered to collect any taxes or balances of tax now
remaining due to and uncollected by them in the districts
aforesaid, in the same manner and with the same power
and privileges, as are allowed by the existing laws in such
cases made and provided.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Charles G.
Haslup and James Morris, shall in every instance, before
they shall proceed to the aforesaid collection, make affi-
davit before some justice of the peace for Howard Dis-
trict of Anne Aruudel county, that the same remains un-
paid, and that they have not received any security or
satisfaction for the same, or any part thereof, more than
the credits allowed thereon.
