CHAPTER 104.

An act to repeal the seventh section of an act entitled, an
act to incorporate the Gray Manufacturing Company.

22, 1846.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the seventh section of the act of Assembly of eigh-
teen hundred and forty-four, chapter two hundred and
seventy-one, entitled an act to incorporate the Gray
Manufacturing Company, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

CHAPTER 105.

Repealed.

A supplement to the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-
three, chapter two hundred and twenty-four.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the orphans' courts of the several coun-
ties, and of Howard District of this State, be and they
are hereby authorised and empowered, upon the applica-
tion of any owner of any slave for a term of years, if they
shall be satisfied by competent testimony, that the said
slave is in the habit of running away, from his said own-
er and thus deprive said owner of his services, and put
said owner to expense in reclaiming him, to extend the
term of service of said slave, and give to the said owner
the right of selling the said slave in or out of this State,
as effectually and in the same manner as the county
courts now have under the act to which this is a supple-
ment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall be so
construed as to authorise the said orphans' courts to take
cognizance of all such cases as may have occurred prior
to the passage hereof, as well as such as may subse-
quently occur.
