CHAP. 108.

the said commissioners, shall be and are hereby authoris-
ed and empowered in the discharge of their official du-
ties, to administer oaths or lake affirmations in relation
to any business which is within their jurisdiction, and all

aforesaid, are hereby declared to be legal and binding on
persons making or taking the same.

CHAPTER 107.

21, 1848.

An act for the relief of the next of kin of Andrew Chary,
deceased.

Treasurer au-
thorised to pay
$1800, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the Western
Shore be, and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay
the sum of eighteen hundred dollars, into the hands of
George Law, of the city of Baltimore, for the purpose of
distribution among the next of kin of Andrew Cleary, late
of the said city, deceased, the said sum having been paid into
the Treasury, upon obtaining a patent on an escheat war-
rant granted out of the land office, on real estate of the
said Cleary, who died without heirs competent to inherit
real estate in this county.

Proviso.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That the Patentee now
holding the said real estate, shall dispose of the same
for the benefit of the said next of kin; and provided also,
before paying over the aforesaid sum of eighteen hundred
dollars, the said Law shall receive from the next of kin re-
spectively, a release, executed and acknowledged accord-
ing to law; which shall be recorded in the office of the
Register of Wills for Baltimore county.

Fail, &c.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That should the said Law
fail to receive releases, and to have the same recorded as
above provided, before the first day of January next, the
said George Law be, and he is hereby required to repay
the said sum of eighteen hundred dollars into the Treasury
of the State.

 

CHAPTER 108.

19, 1845.

An act to allow Thomas Lusby, former Sheriff and Collec-
tor of Kent County, further time to complete his Collec-
tions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
