1844.                                  RESOLUTIONS.

and is now pending in the Senate for the annexation of
Texas to the United States, in the manner and upon the
terms therein specified; the passage of which would, in
the judgment of this General Assembly, be a flagrant vio-
lation of the Constitution of the United States—There-
fore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Senators representing this State, in the Congress
of the United States, be requested to oppose and vote
against the passage of the said resolutions, and that a co-
py of this preamble and resolution, signed by the presid-
ing officers of the two houses, be forthwith forwarded to
the said Senators.

Resolution appointing Directors in the Annapolis and Elk
Ridge Rail Road Company.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Col. Wm. T. Wootten, Dr. Stevens Gambrill, and George
McNeir, be and they are hereby appointed directors on
the part of the State, of the Annapolis and Elk Ridge
Rail Road.

10, 1845.

Resolution relative to a portion of the School Fund of
Charles County.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Orphans' court of Charles county, be and they are
hereby authorised and required to draft on the collector of
Charles county in favor of Richard Fitzgerald, for one
hundred dollars, to be paid out of the money levied for
account of district schools, it being for tuition of children
in and contiguous to district school No. 4, in the third
election district, who were taught by said Fitzgerald, in
consequence of that district school being closed the last
year.
