CHAPTER 313.

CHAP. 113.

A supplement to an act, passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-six, chapter two hundred and
eighty-five, entitled, an act to regulate the charges for the
use of Hackney Carriages in the City of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the proprietors of any hackney carriage
in the city of Baltimore, who does not intend to go upon
or use the public stands in said city with such hackney
carriage, shall at the time of applying for a license for the
same as required by the present, or any future ordinances
of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, signify in
writing such intention, and thereupon a special license
may and shall be granted to such proprietor, by the re-
gister or other proper officer of the said city.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That for every special license
granted by virtue of this act, there shall be paid such sum
as is now or shall hereafter become payable for other hack-
ney carriages, by the present or future ordinances of said
city.

Pay of license.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That no hackney carriage
which shall be specially licensed under and by virtue of
this act, shall make use of, or come upon, or stand or
wait for employment at any of the public stands designa-
ted by or under the present, or any future ordinances of
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, or at any other
place or places in said city, except the premises of the
owner thereof, under a penalty of ten dollars, for every
such offence, to be recovered against either the owner or
driver thereof, recoverable as fines of a like amount are
now recovered.

Penalty, &c.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the provisions of the
act to which this is a supplement, which relate to the
numbering of hackney carriages, so far as respects car-
riages specially licensed under this act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

Repealed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the regulations in
reference to hackney carriages contained in the act to
which this is a supplement, or in the present or any fu-
ture ordinances of the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more, excepting those in reference to numbering the same,
be and the same are hereby extended to hackney carriages
: specially licensed under the provisions of this act.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That each and every pro-
prietor of hackney carriages shall at the time when he
