LAWS OF MARYLAND.

1844.

Imprisonment in the county jail for not less than one
month, nor more than two years.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if any person shall bribe
or offer to bribe a legal voter, he shall be subject to the
same fine and imprisonment as an illegal voter convicted
as aforesaid.

CHAP. 310.

Offer a bribe.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That any person who
may hereafter vote at any election in this State, without
possessing the qualifications of age and of residence, as
now required by the laws of this State, shall upon convic-
tion thereof in the county court of the county where he
may so vote, or in the city court of Baltimore, be subject
to the same punishment prescribed in the first section of
this act.

SEC. 4 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That any person voting or offering to vote in
any of the counties of this State, or in the city of Balti-
more, on the certificates of naturalization of any other
person, shall be guilty of felony, and on conviction there-
of, shall be punished by confinement in the penitentiary

SEC. 5. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That at all future elections to be held in this
State, it shall be the duty of the judges of election, to
stamp on the certificate of naturalization of all persons
producing such certificates, the words voted, and the
number of the ward or district in which said person voted,
and the day and year of voting.
SEC. 6. Be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent with
this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 310.

 

An act supplemental to an act entitled, an act supplementa-
ry to an act entitled, an act for the encouragement of Pri-
mary Schools in Prince George's County, passed De-
cember session, eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chap-
ter sixty-one.

Section I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the trustees of the school fund for Prince
George's county, be and they are hereby authorised and
directed to contract for and superintend the erection and
construction of a school house in the Piscataway district
in said county, in the neighborhood of Fort Washington,
and for that purpose, the said trustees shall have power
