CHAP. 294.
|
Older of Independent Odd Fellows, attached to the Grand
Lodge of Maryland, and their successors, be and they are
hereby incorporated and made a body politic and corpo-
rate, by the name and number of Mount Savage Lodge,
number forty-three, of the Independent Order of Odd Fel-
lows, of the State of Maryland; and by that name may sue
and be sued, and have a common seal, and the same at their
pleasure alter, and be entitled to use the powers and privi-
leges incident to such corporation.

Hold personal
estate.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall be capable of taking and holding real and personal
estate, not exceeding in value the sum of four thousand
dollars, which estate shall never be divided among the
members of the corporation, but shall descend to their
successors, for the benevolent relief of the sick and dis-
tressed, the education of the orphans of its members, and
for the promotion of those purposes generally.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this corporation shall
have power to alter and amend their by-laws at pleasure;
provided, they do not conflict with the laws of the State
of Maryland, the laws of flic United States, or the laws of
the Grand Lodge.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall enure for thirty years from its passage, and that
the Legislature reserves to itself the right to alter and
amend this act of incorporation at pleasure.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to Extend the Char-
ters of the several Banks of the City of Baltimore.
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, the act to which this is a supplement,
passed December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-
four, chapter two hundred and seventy-four, had in view
the extension of the charters of sundry banks in Balti-
more, it was the design and meaning of said act to em-
brace the President and Directors of the Mechanic's Bank
of Baltimore, and extend the charier until the end of the
year eighteen hundred and fifty-seven; provided, said cor-
poration should be subject from and after the first day of
January, eighteen hundred and forty-five, to all the rules,
restrictions, limitations and provisions declared to be fund-
amental articles of the constitution of the corporation call-
ed the Merchant's Bank of Baltimore, and the provisions
